2025 Tiguan Updates & Redesign

Volkswagen’s best-selling nameplate in the US enters a new generation in 2025, benefiting from a new platform, an upgraded engine, and a design that’s been revamped inside out. The Tiguan fully adopts the two-row configuration with this generation, with the three-row configuration being discontinued. The Tiguan sits on a new MQB EVO platform with new sheet metal, a longer wheelbase, and a shorter rear overhang. This helps it sit with a higher nose, but the exterior also benefits from slimmer LED headlights and an optional LED lightbar with an illuminated logo. Overall, the changes to the exterior help make the Tiguan look more athletic and toned, accentuated by a rear spoiler and air curtains in the front bumper. 

You’ll find upgraded materials that accentuate the new design philosophy of the interior. The cabin feels more premium than past iterations, thanks to walnut wood and Savona leather decorating the cabin. A larger display screen sits in the center of the dashboard, but the big ticket item is the available “Atmospheres.” Atmospheres use synchronized ambient lighting and audio settings to set the mood with five preset options and a custom builder. 2025 Tiguan Interior Features & Trim Levels

While pricing and trim levels are still being worked out, we expect the Tiguan lineup to follow the structure below:

Our guess comes down to the previous releases we’ve seen, and we may see a plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV) join the lineup as well. As trim levels haven’t been solidified yet, we can’t specify which features will come on each model, but expect top models to feature a power tailgate, 12-way power front seats with quilted leather, and a 10-point, full massage and ventilation system in the front row. The rear row can also be heated and can be equipped with three-zone climate control. We don’t have cargo space specs for the Tiguan yet, but with a longer body and removing the third row, we expect it to improve space in the second row and greatly improve trunk space. 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan Performance & MPG Ratings

The Tiguan’s new and improved engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter that brings you from 184 horsepower in 2024 to 201 horses in 2025. The new build also allowed the 2025 VW Tiguan to drop its weight thanks to more use of high-strength steel and aluminum. The new Tiguan promises to improve on drive quality in every way, improving your daily commute. EPA-estimated fuel economy is not available at this time, but we expect the Tiguan to make gains from where it left off in 2024, where it got 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway with a total estimated driving range of exceeding 443 miles. 2025 VW Tiguan Technology & Safety Features

Our favorite new tech feature on the Tiguan is the new Atmospheres program, which helps the Tiguan stand out with an LED bar across the bottom of the dash and lighting elements in the doors and passenger dash. It gives the Volkswagen SUV a unique look that you don’t see at this price point. A standard 12.9-inch digital display is standard, but a 15.0-inch option is available, both running VW’s latest Digital Cockpit Pro system that connects to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging is standard, with other tech options like a head-up display and a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system available. The 2025 Tiguan also benefits from Volkwagen’s extensive driver assistance platform, which includes standard adaptive cruise control, lane-centering and a host of other features.
